METHODS OF LAYING

A wooden floor from Alfa Parquet is the timeless foundation for your interior. We carefully produce the flooring that will define the atmosphere of your interior. You can choose how the floor will be laid in the room. There are two methods of laying a wooden floor: glue-down and floating.

GLUE-DOWN

With a glue-down floor, chipboard is usually glued and/or screwed to the subfloor. This base floor is coated with glue so that the wooden floor can be nailed on its underside to the chipboard subfloor.

This means the floor is fixed into position and can no longer move. It is thus virtually impossible for a glue-down floor to expand or contract (in response to changing relative humidity levels).

All types of Alfa flooring are, each in their own way, suitable for the glue-down method.

FLOATING

An insulating and soundproof underlay is used for a floating floor. This underlay is not attached to the bearing floor but is laid loosely in the room. The floor boards are laid on top of this, often glued together using the tongue and groove system. The wooden floor then rests with its own weight on the underlay and is hence not fixed in the room.

The distinctive Alfa Parquet floor is perfect for a floating installation. Ask your dealer about the options for a floating Alfa floor of your choice.
